Pregnancy and the entire three Trimesters

Monitoring pregnancy trimesters are a crucial part of pregnancy. An expectant mother goes through a tremendous number of changes throughout her term and it's helpful to understand what changes are occurring and the reason why. It is also a good idea to know what to anticipate on these trimesters so you will be prepared.

A normal pregnancy; term will last forty weeks and these are further split into three pregnancy trimesters; the 1st trimester lasts for the 1st 12 weeks, the next trimester from the 13th to the 28th week and the last trimester starting from the 28th week up until the baby is born. While every pregnancy term is unique and many mothers will encounter different changes, all pregnant women should keep healthy, exercise and eat right in order to ensure a healthy maternity.

Of all maternity trimesters, the first one is generally the most challenging to deal with. Beginning from when the child is conceived to week twelve, the mom will endure sensations of nausea, sickness, heightened sensitivity and weakness. It is normal to feel strong urges for certain kinds of foods with a keen aversion to others. Acid reflux, upset stomach and bowel irregularity are additional factors that pregnant women might be affected from.

During this time it can be difficult to try and stay healthy but there are methods in which some of the discomfort might be handled. Drinking lots of water is very helpful and also having small, regular meals which are loaded with nutritive value. It's also a good idea to take part in light forms of exercise and also to rest as much as possible. Do not go for high impact sports or anything that is too intense. Cycling can be done in an simple manner though walking and swimming are suggested.

The last two pregnancy trimesters are usually easier to cope with because the morning sickness will often decrease after the 12th week. In this phase, it is imperative the mother practice good hygiene and continue a light exercise routine. Avoid exercises that involve balancing of any kind- by this time your abdomen size may affect how you balance yourself and may result in a fall. Walking, yoga and mild-paced swimming are great exercises in this trimester. A nutritious diet is also essential at this phase of the maternity.

The final trimester is one for preparation on the mother's part. The baby's delivery is just a few weeks away so it is critical that the mother starts to prepare for caring for the little one and breastfeeding. During this period, it is also best if you do work out that will strengthen the pelvic muscles. Having gentle walks are a great way to exercise at this time and it's smart to avoid any type of exercise which involves lying on your back.
